Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1) plays a crucial role in extracellular matrix (ECM) composition and wound healing. TIMP-1 inhibits catalytic activity of metalloproteinase by interacting with its active site.

TIMP-1 is implicated in the control of inflammation in a number of autoimmune diseases, and its confirmed to be elevated in several types of human cancer, including breast cancer, Lung cancer, prostate cancer, melanoma and glioblastoma.

Validation of TIMP-1

Adiponectin is reported to increase tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) expression.

IMD ELISA data showing the low (<5 µg/ml) and high (>10 µg/ml) serum adiponectin and TIMP-1

levels for individual patients.
