ImmunoDiagnostics Limited (IMD) is a spin-off biotech company from The University of Hong Kong. The company is dedicated to biomarker discovery, assay development and in vitro diagnostics (IVD) of major chronic diseases, particularly cardio-metabolic diseases and autoimmune diseases.
Our Business
We have established an integrated “biomarker/antigen-antibody-immunoassay” pipeline for the development of innovative diagnostic products. Firstly, new biomarkers are expressed in the form of recombinant proteins with different protein expression systems and are subsequently purified to a final purity of above 95% by procedures such as affinity purification, ion-exchange chromatography, size exclusion chromatography and gel infiltration. Secondly, by using high-quality recombinant proteins as antigens, antibodies are generated in the serum of host animals such as rabbits or mice after immunization, and are further purified from the serum by performing both IgG- and antigen-based affinity purification. Lastly, highly specific antibodies are used for the development of a series of innovative semi- or fully automatic immunoassays with supreme sensitivity, specificity and efficiency, including immunoblotting assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), as well as immunoturbidimetry assays (ITAs), chemiluminescence assays (CLIAs), which can be directly applied in clinical diagnosis.

Careers
Post-doctoral Fellow in Biomedical Research
Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Biomedical Research in the Department of Medicine (Ref.: 498716), to commence as soon as possible for one to two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, preferably with experience in animal experiments, molecular biology and biochemistry. The appointee will work on an applied research project to study the relationship between adipose tissue metabolites and obesity induced metabolic diseases. Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer in Assay Development and Diagnostics
Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer in Assay Development and Diagnostics in the Department of Medicine and State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Ref.: 498834) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance) Applicants should have an M.Phil. degree or equivalent in Biology/Chemistry or a related discipline, preferably with experience in assay development, microfluidics and biosensors. The appointee will work on an applied research project to develop rapid and high throughput diagnostic assays for research, drug screening, early diagnosis and risk prediction of chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (holding the functional title of Laboratory Manager)
Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (holding the functional title of Laboratory Manager) in the Department of Medicine and the State Key Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Ref.: 498835) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two- to three-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal) Applicants should have a Master’s degree or above in Biology/ Chemistry or a related discipline, preferably with experience in laboratory management and knowledge of animal studies. The appointee will be responsible for coordinating an eight-year inter-institutional project on “metabolic medicine” supported by RGC “Area of Excellence”, and managing research platforms in HKU State Key Laboratory of Pharmacology Biotechnology.
