What is PETIA?
Turbidimetric immunoassay measures the turbidity of samples to determine the concentration of a target protein. Such type of assay is based on the reaction between antigens and antibodies to produce an immune complex that precipitates, thus increasing the turbidity of a sample. By measuring the turbidity when the light passes through the solution mixture, the concentration of the target protein/analyte can be determined. The detection can be performed with a spectrophotometer or a chemical analyser, which is based on the intensity of the incident beam after it passes through the solution. For PETIA, the specific antibodies are conjugated with latex particles of different sizes to improve the assay sensitivity and analytical range. Since the antibody- antigen reaction is fast and robust, PEITA has been widely used in clinical diagnosis for quantification of hundreds of circulating proteins.

IMD has developed a series of ready-to-use PEITA kits to assist risk prediction and diagnosis of major chronic diseases. Our PETIA kits are dual vial liquid reagent systems for quantitative determination of target protein in serum, plasma and/or urine, which can be adapted to use in any type of chemical analyzers. The sample tests can be finished within 10 min. All the required reagents, including assay kit, calibrator and control sets, are provided in liquid stable format. No additional reagent or reagent preparation is required.
