INTRODUCTION
As one of the most important adipose derived hormones, Human Leptin is secreted primarily in the adipocytes of white adipose tissue, and the level of circulating leptin is directly proportional to the total amount of fat in the body. It acts on receptors in the hypothalamus of the brain where it inhibits appetite and has been shown to reduce body weight, food consumption, and plasma glucose levels in various in vivo models.
The Fc-tag can extend the half-life of recombinant proteins in vivo by interacting with the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), reducing their clearance from the bloodstream. Therefore, adding an Fc tag to Leptin enhances its pharmacokinetic properties in therapeutic protein research.FORMULATION
